General Questions
Yes. I offer both in-person sessions in my Loveland office and secure Telehealth sessions for clients located in Ohio.
I'll respond within 1-2 business days to schedule a brief phone consultation. This is a no-pressure conversation where we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you have about the process, and make sure we're a good fit.
If it feels right for both of us, we'll schedule your first session. I'll send you intake paperwork to complete before we meet, which helps us make the most of our time together.
Your first session gives us space to explore what brings you in, what you’re hoping for, and what support might be the best fit. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—just a steady, comfortable beginning.
I work with couples who want to strengthen communication, repair patterns that feel repetitive or painful, rebuild trust, or reconnect in more meaningful ways. For couples at a crossroads, I offer discernment counseling which is a structured, short-term process that helps each partner gain clarity about the future of the relationship. And for engaged or seriously dating couples, I provide premarital counseling which offers a personalized look at values, expectations, communication, and strengths to support a healthy foundation.
I also support individuals navigating relationship pain. Many people come in feeling stuck, alone in their struggle, or unsure of what to do next — and we work together to build insight, grounding, momentum, and a path forward.
Sessions are typically 50 minutes.
Most clients come weekly or biweekly depending on needs, goals, and scheduling. We can adjust the pace anytime.
My approach is relational, practical, and hopeful. I integrate Gottman-informed strategies and Doherty Relationship Institute techniques, communication tools, and research-based methods to help partners understand patterns, reduce conflict, and strengthen connection.
It’s completely normal to start from different places. It’s more common than you might think for one partner to feel unsure, hesitant, or simply not ready. Instead of seeing that as a roadblock, we treat it as information about what each of you needs right now. You’re always welcome to come in on your own to explore the dynamics you’re experiencing, or couples can attend an initial appointment with no pressure to make a long-term commitment.
If you are a couple on the brink but unsure if divorce is the answer, consider discernment counseling, which is a specialized service I provide.
I may meet with partners individually if it can help the work we’re doing together as a couple. This can be helpful for clarifying thoughts or emotions, but if there are personal issues that need deeper individual attention, those are often better addressed in individual therapy.
I offer Discernment Counseling which is a short-term, structured process designed for couples on the brink. If Discernment Counseling is a good fit we will work together as both of you decide whether to try to restore your marriage to health, move toward divorce, or take a time out and decide later.
Yes. I am certified in SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts). Couples can choose to complete the SYMBIS assessment, which offers a personalized look at values, expectations, communication styles, and areas for growth.
Yes. I provide affirming, inclusive therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples in a safe, supportive environment.
This is completely normal. Therapy often touches parts of your life or relationship that haven’t had room to breathe. We’ll move at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.
Your privacy matters deeply. Sessions are confidential, with a few legal exceptions (risk of harm, abuse, or court involvement). In couples counseling, confidentiality includes both partners—individual secrets are not held.
I am currently accepting new clients. I am in the office Mon-Fri and have morning, afternoon, and evening appointments available. I also offer Telehealth services.
The best way to schedule a session or request a consultation is to use the Contact Me (https://www.journeytowellness-counseling.com/contact-8)form on my website.
I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Many clients use their out-of-network benefits and request a superbill for reimbursement.
Yes. You can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards for payment.
I’m an out-of-network provider, which means you pay at the time of service, and you’re welcome to use any out-of-network benefits your insurance offers. Many clients choose to submit a superbill for partial reimbursement.
